Homeade Pies To Be Sold To Fund Abuse Program The Mackinac County Child Protection Roundtable is selling homemade Dutch apple pies to raise funds for programs to prevent child abuse and neglect in the county. Orders are due Tuesday, November 13. The pies will be made Saturday, November 17, and delivered that day for baking. They can also be frozen and baked for the holidays. Pies cost $10 each. Orders can be made to any member of the Roundtable, or to Sheri Damron at 643-6122, Mary Pemble-Swiderski at 643-7345, or Rhonda Engle at 643-6115. The county receives state childprotection money, Jeanette O'Rourke of the Roundtable said, that is generated when taxpayers check a box on the back of their state income tax forms designating a donation to the state's Children's Trust Fund. Mackinac County receives $5,000 through this program and must match it with $2,000 to receive the state's contribution. |
