Hunting Seasons Reported by DNR for Michigan Species HUNTING SEASONS Whitetail Deer Bow season - - October 14 to November 14; December 1 to January 1. Regular firearm season - - November 15 to November 30 Late firearm season - - December 17 to January 1 (antlerless deer on private land only) Muzzleloading season for Upper Peninsula (Zone 1) - - December 7 to December 16 Muzzleloading season for Lower Peninsula - - Zone 2: December 14 to December 23; Zone 3: December 7 to December 23 * Bag limit for hunters is one deer per season. Hunters can shoot one buck with antlers no less than three inches or longer. Public and private land antlerless licenses are subject to local regulation. Check with a license distributor for your area. Snowshoe Hare September 15, 2006, to March 31, 2007; bag limit is five per day and 10 combined possession. Coyote and Fox Trapping: October 15 to March 1 Hunting Coyote: Statewide from July 15 through April 15; Closed in Zones 1 (U.P.) and two from November 15 to November 30. Hunting Fox: statewide from October 15 to March 1. No bag limit for either coyote or fox. Fall Wild Turkey/ Woodcock Turkey: October 8 to November 14 Woodcock: September 22 to November 5 General Hunting Hours Legal hunting hours for deer and small game are between onehalf hour before sunrise to onehalf hour after sunset. Go online to www.michigan.gov/dnr for actual hunting times for each day in your area. Woodcock hunting hours are sunrise to sunset. Dog Training on Wild Animals Dogs cannot be trained to hunt on wild animals during hunting season. Training is only allowed from July 15 through April 15. |
