Eagles Win 4th Straight Class D District Crown

The Engadine Eagles won their fourth consecutive Class D district championship Saturday, November 10. The Engadine Eagles captured their fourth consecutive Class D district championship after defeating Rapid River Rockets in the semifinals and Hannahville Soaring Eagles in the finals Saturday, November 3, at Engadine High School.

The Eagles swept both the Rockets (25-9, 25-15, and 25-7) and the Soaring Eagles (25-15, 25- 9, and 25-12) to earn the district crown.

In the tourney opener, Big Bay de Noc defeated Rock Mid- Peninsula, followed by Rapid River over Grand Marais, and Hannahville upending Big Bay de Noc.

"We played well and with consistency during the day," said Eagles Head Coach Kathy Miller.

Engadine will travel to Ewen- Trout Creek to battle the winner of the Baraga districts at 1:30 p.m. In the second semifinal, Crystal Falls- Forest Park and Carney-Nadeau districts will tangle Saturday, November 10.

Eagles stats: Tristina Browning, six aces, 32 assists, three kills, one block kill; Shauni Rutledge, three aces, 14 kills, two block kills; Jamie Maison, eight aces, eight kills; Elisa Hobbs, 13 kills, one block kill; Lauren MacArthur, five aces, seven kills; Kayla Miller, five aces, five kills; Shannon Browning, five aces.

Eagles Perfect in EUPC The Engadine Eagles closed out their perfect season in the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference with an 8-0 record, but had to go five games to defeat the DeTour Raiders Thursday, November 1.

The Eagles defeated the Raiders (24-26, 25-15, 22-25, 25-7, 15-10) to improve their overall mark to 21- 8-4 on the season.

Eagles stats: Kayla Miller, 100% (20-of-20) serving, five aces, five kills; Shannon Browning, seven aces; Shauni Rutledge, six aces, 14 kills; Lauren MacArthur, four aces, nine kills; Tristina Browning, three aces, 31 assists, three kills; Elisa Hobbs, 10 kills; Jamie Maison, seven kills, one ace.
