 | | St. Ignace Mayor Paul Grondin, a Western Michigan University graduate, lost a friendly bet with City Manager Eric Dodson, a Central Michigan University graduate, when CMU defeated WMU 34-31 during an annual football rivalry game Thursday, November 8. The mayor was forced to hold up a Central Michigan University sweater during a special City Council meeting to swear in the newly elected council candidates and the re-elected mayor Monday, November 12. He then dejectedly stated, "Central Michigan University is the best college team in the universe." (Photograph by Tim Matelski) |

As we enjoy reading "Autos Across Mackinac" each week in
The St. Ignace News, it was good to see the article on Sim Christenson. Sim operated a general store in Moran from 1947 to 1959, where such items as clothing, shoes, and paint were sold. I remember shopping for shoes at his store as a young girl.
Speaking of Moran, don't miss the dinner at Immaculate Conception Church Sunday, November 18, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Lee Smith of Ithaca is doing well after being hospitalized. Lee is one of 12 brothers of Marion Fenlon.
Donna Pope, along with her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Bill Huntsman, and Bill's mother, Betty Huntsman, flew to Boston for a two-week vacation. They enjoyed the Cape Cod cranberry harvest, the Paul Revere site, Martha's Venture, where they rode in a boat, and visiting the Kennedy Foundation, where their picture was taken with Ted Kennedy.
Belated birthday wishes to Christa DeBouis, who celebrated November 6.
Happy birthday to Tabitha Blair November 15, her grandfather, Ed Blair, November 22, Barb Alkire November 17, and Bernice Bickham November 20.
Our sympathy goes out to the Vernon McCrory family. Mr. McCrory, a lifetime resident of St. Ignace, passed away Monday, November 5.
Please feel free to call me if you have news to publish in this space.
As the men leave for hunting camps, the ladies will enjoy Christmas shopping.
Happy Thanksgiving Thursday, November 22.
