Giving Credit Where It's Due for 'Chippewa Warrior' Book Thank you so much for considering my upcoming visit to Southfield Library to publicize the two books (in Helen Shoberg's Les Cheneaux column) published by MZW Ink at a book signing as newsworthy in Helen Shoberg's column of November 8, however, I am embarrassed to say that by using the flier, printed by this event, I inadvertently compounded an error, as I did not correct that error before relaying the information to your publication. MZW Ink published "Oghemawahbee, Chippewa Warrior; and His Incredible Journey During the Time of Relocation," and while I assisted in this endeavor, co-authored a research paper at the conclusion of the oral history with the late Yvonne Peer, and had our son, Brian Wilson of Atlanta, Georgia, do the illustrations, the book is authored by Mike Osogwin Jr. and Marianne Osogwin. The account of this historical event was originally told by Mike Osogwin Sr. and his brother, John Osogwin. So far I am proud to say we are paying our printing bills and "Ogehmawahbee" continues to sell a few copies monthly to those who want a read-aloud book to discuss with children ages six to 14. Thank you again for all of the support that your paper gives the artisan and cultural items in our Eastern Upper Peninsula. Harvesting the police report or accident news always is so much easier than keeping a finger on the pulse of a community. Moira Z. Wilson Hessel |
