DeTour Book Fair Breaks Record DeTour Area School's Scholastic Book Fair this year reported gross sales up 43% over last year's record-breaking sales. Sales enabled DeTour librarians to select $1,816 worth of books for the library. Book fair activity also generated "customer rewards," which can be spent for instructional resource materials for DeTour Elementary School teachers. The book fair was sponsored by Friends of DeTour Library October 11 through October 18. DeTour resident Julie Rucker chaired the event and organized 26 volunteer clerks to work at the fair. Many students, parents, teachers, and grandparents supported the book fair with purchases, coordinators said. Individual members of the Friends gave donations that were used to offer 27 prizes that were awarded through a drawing to students. The Friends paid all sales taxes generated at the fair. |
