Hello, everyone. There was a wonderful book discussion Monday, November 19, at the Engadine Library. This was the group's first discussion, which included Hemingway scholar Jack Jobst. Mr. Jobst visited Engadine earlier this summer, where he spoke about Ernest Hemingway and the Upper Peninsula, at the Mill Pond Park pavilion. Approximately 16 people were in attendance at the library Monday evening, a nice turnout for the first discussion group. Everyone who attended looks forward to future book discussions, where all are welcome. For more information, contact the Engadine Library.

Friday, November 23, and Saturday, November 24, it's "Curtis Aglow," sponsored by the Curtis Chamber of Commerce and Curtis Community Arts Council. Starting at 6 p.m., will be the Curtis Park holiday tree lighting and Santa's parade. You will find music and hot cider, along with holiday specials and treats at area businesses. Saturday will include "Shop the Town" from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and a Christmas Bazaar at the Portage Township Community Building and the Curtis school craft show, bake sale, and raffle. Holiday specials and treats will be offered at area businesses, and I heard Santa will be there, so make sure the kids have their list and they've checked it twice.Saturday evening, don't miss the Holiday Gala - Deck the Walls, sponsored by the Curtis Community Arts Council. There will be a silent auction, hors d'oeuvre buffet, and entertainment from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chamberlin's Ole Forest Inn. Cost is $15 donation per person. All proceeds will benefit the Curtis Community Arts Council.
