Expanding on a tradition, Cedar Cove Assisted Living Community in Cedarville will host a holiday tree lighting ceremony Sunday, December 2, at 7 p.m. at the facility on Mary L. Street, behind First National Bank. This year's lighting will honor the memory of deceased friends and family members, and participants can donate $5 per light in memory of someone.
The event will be a partnership among Cedar Cove, local volunteers and organizations, and the Les Cheneaux Chamber of Commerce, which revived the tree lighting tradition in the town last year. As in the past, students at Les Cheneaux Community Schools will make decorations for the tree.
A musical program and holiday service will be included in the event.
Refreshments will be served at Cedar Cove before and after the event. Cedar Cove will also be open if people want to get warm or use the restrooms.
Memorial light donations can be made any time before the tree lighting, or at the event. To ensure the name of a loved one gets on the program, send or drop off donations by Tuesday, November 27. Donations can be made at Cedar Cove or mailed to Cedar Cove Assisted Living, 266 Mary L. Street, P.O. Box 580, Cedarville, Michigan 49719.
