Military veterans living at Mackinac Straits Hospital Long Term Care were honored Saturday, November 10, in a ceremony presented by the Disabled American Veterans Straits Chapter 93. Members of the chapter present were Gary Cardona, commander, Billie Clark, past department commander and chapter adjutant, Lou Chambers, and Tom Kinjorski. They were accompanied by vocalist Kathy Lawnichak.
During the ceremony, veterans were honored for their time in service and sang along to patriotic songs. Treasa Paquin, hospital recreation therapist, presented each veteran with a certificate of appreciation from hospital staff.
After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed cake, ice cream, and punch, while the veterans shared their military service stories with guests, staff, and other residents.
