Family Readiness Group Collecting Blankets

The Family Readiness Group of the Army National Guard 1-125th Infantry in Alpena is asking for help from all northern Michigan communities to donate children's blankets for their "Blankets for the Brave" program, which enables each soldier to give a special blanket to his or her child before deploying overseas. Blankets can be handmade or store bought, sewn or fleece-tied. Sizes may vary from one yard to 1.5 yards in length. Donations must be received by Saturday, December 15.

Donations can be sent to the Alpena Armory by calling (989) 354-6436. For any questions or to make pick-up arrangements, contact Theresa Pallas at (989) 350-1179.
