Henry J. Tremblay, 71, of Rudyard, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007.
He was born in Rudyard November 11, 1936, to Alderic and Josephine (nee Royer) Tremblay.
He was a lifelong resident of Rudyard. He spent most of his working life constructing roofs and bartending at Joe's Bar during the off season and evenings. He also farmed cattle and other livestock. Over the last few years, Mr. Tremblay began spending the winters with his daughters in Minnesota. He was a devoted and loving father to his family, friends said.
Mr. Tremblay was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, bear hunting and fishing; he held the state record for largest black mouth bass. His fishing buddy, Dennis McLeod, always made sure there was plenty of time allowed for fishing. Mr. Tremblay also spent time bowling with his friends on the Jack's Livery Bowling Team.
Mr. Tremblay belonged to the English-Wallis VFW Post 4905 in Rudyard, and then Post 3676 in Sault Ste. Marie. He was also a life member of the Sault Ste. Marie American Legion Post 3.
He is survived by eight daughters and their families, Nancy and Scott Bartley of Kinross, Helen and Dave Talisman of Harbor Beach, Holi and Richard Germain of Sherman, Texas, Lisa and Bill Rohlik of Huntley, Minnesota, Valerie and Chris Bulfe of Sherman, Texas, Tammy and Elliott Pomranky of Rudyard, Tina Marsh and Jim Skaden of Blue Earth, Minnesota, and Kelcy and Shawn Beck of Minnesota Lake, Minnesota. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and their families, Joseph Rochefort, Trisha Betlem, David Talisman II, Daniel Talisman, Dalton Talisman, Kristie Germain, Apryl Germain, Kate Germain, Nicholas Rochefort, John Rochefort, Brandon Hollingsworth, Amber Bulfe, Dominique Tremblay, Brooke Tremblay, Heather Marsh, Mariah Marsh, Andrew Beck, Karlie Beck, Jermiah Rochefort, Nichole Rochefort, and Laura Weber, and 10 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Cole, James, Kaylie, Kurtis, Carmon, Dakota, Jack "JD," Dale Jr., and Jessica. Also surviving him are two sisters and their families, Rita Hill of Lansing, and Beatrice and Chick Glidden of Vernon, Connecticut. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Tremblay was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lawrence Tremblay, and a grandson, Cameron Tremblay.
Services were held Saturday, December 1, at 3 p.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford, with visitation from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Mr. Tremblay's niece, Candie Rodriguez, conducted the service.
