      Christmas in Brevort started with a Christmas Eve candlelight service at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Tari Stage-Harvey sharing the Christmas story. It's always nice to have Hannah, Sophie, and Elijah Harvey and Emma and Josh Feleppa at our service, celebrating the birth of a child so long ago.

Les Cheneaux
      We hope that Lydia Rudd had a happy birthday on Christmas Day, when she turned 97 years of age. Lydia has not been feeling well, but was feeling a lot better in time for her special day. We wish her well. The candlelight service at First Union Church was a lovely way to spend Christmas Eve, featuring a Christmas carol service with talented local musicians.

St. Ignace
      January has arrived and the days will be lighter longer. Jack and Marion Fenlon will be traveling to Florida for a few days. The special occasion is to celebrate her only sister's 90th birthday Saturday, January 5. Dorothy (nee Smith) Berson, her sister, Marion, and 10 brothers grew up on Cheeseman Hill. Their parents were Anna and Cecil Smith.

      A green Christmas it was on Mackinac Island for 2007. The evening was radiant and beautiful as many attended the Christmas Eve services at Ste. Anne's. Father Rey Garcia officiated, with the combined choirs of Trinity and Ste. Anne's providing beautiful music for the 8 p.m. Mass.

      Happy New Year! Wow, it's the year 2008. Please keep the family of Jim Price, of Engadine, in your prayers, as Jim is in the hospital. His wife, Joan, said her son, Sergeant Lawrence Joy, who is stationed in Iraq, came home to see the family, which made Jim very happy.

      115 Years Ago The St. Ignace News Saturday, December 31, 1892 Congressman Stephenson on Tuesday last secured recognition and called up the bill to reimburse Thomas Chambers of Mackinac Island for money due him for carrying mail from Mackinaw to the Soo, but Butler, of Iowa, objected to consideration and laid the bill aside indefinitely.
