Happy New Year! Wow, it's the year 2008.

Please keep the family of Jim Price, of Engadine, in your prayers, as Jim is in the hospital. His wife, Joan, said her son, Sergeant Lawrence Joy, who is stationed in Iraq, came home to see the family, which made Jim very happy.

The annual Tahquamenon Country Sled Dog Race will be happening Saturday, January 5, at the Rainbow Lodge on County Road 423 at the mouth of the Two Hearted River in Northern Luce County. Races begin at 9:30 a.m.

More than 100 dog teams are expected. Saturday, January 26, and Sunday, January 27, there will be Great Lakes Sled Dog Association races at the Rainbow Lodge.

Top of the Lake Antique and Vintage Snowmobile Show and Ride will take place in Naubinway, Friday, February 15, and Saturday, February 16.

Saturday, February 16, will be the 14th annual Winter Carnival, sponsored by the Curtis Area Chamber of Commerce. Many events are planned on the ice of South Manistique Lake.

There are projects continuing into the New Year at the Engadine Library, like recycling and saving Campbells soup labels.

The Friends of the Library accomplished many things in 2007, and the group's programs are ongoing.
