Jack Snoek
Jack A. Snoek of Harrison was a former St. Ignace resident who worked for the Michigan State Highway Department while living in St. Ignace during the 1960s and 1970s. He enjoyed working with his co-workers and the friendships he maintained while living there. Mr. Snoek died Saturday, December 22, 2007, at age 87, following a brief illness.
He was born in Amsterdam, Holland, and grew up in Detroit. He served honorably in the United States Army during World War II.
Friends said he was passionate about flying, and building remote controlled model aircraft. He also played Hawaiian steel guitars. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and fishing.
He married M. Kathryn May of Traverse City in 1943. She preceded him in death in 1971.
He married Laura St. Cyr.
Mr. Snoek is survived by a daughter, Patricia Kellogg of Traverse City; his wife, Laura, who remains in Harrison; two sisters, Virginia Snoek and Irene Duval of San Mateo, California; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Aprivate family memorial service is planned for Traverse City.
