Brevort
Although there was adequate snow here on the weekend, there were hardly any snowmobilers. Now we are getting more snow, so come on, sled heads.
You would have thought it was the Packers playing football on Fisherman's Drive Sunday. The Barthelemys and a few friends were having almost too much fun playing in the snow.
Trinity lunches will begin this Friday, January 18, at noon at the Trinity Lutheran Church fellowship hall on Fisherman's Drive in Brevort. Our head chef, Pega Kennedy, has a great meal planned and all are welcome. A suggested donation of $4 will be taken at the door.
The lunches are always a good time to catch up on news of the neighborhood.
A lot of neighbors were without power Sunday night into Monday morning. Owen and Barb Jorgenson and people on the Worth Road were relieved to have lights and heat about 10 a.m. Monday, January 14. Of course, there is the snow plowing and shoveling going on, and the snow keeps coming.
We have received word of the passing of Mary Jane Hadwin December 27, 2007. There will be a complete obituary in The St. Ignace News. Our condolences to the family.
Pega Kennedy and Lara Gustafson, Kristi, and Morgan enjoyed an afternoon game of cards at the home of Joyce Gustafson Sunday.
Because of the snowstorm, flights were canceled, including the one to John and Pega Kennedy's cruise of the Panama Canal.
I am pleased to report that Jim Dyer is doing much better. He was even out shoveling snow Monday. Jim and Ann's granddaughter, Jesse Orlando, was the champion speller in the fourth grade spelling bee at her school in Dayton, Ohio.
Now she is headed for the district contest. We wish her good luck. Her parents are Steve and Carole Orlando.
Please keep Theresa Davis of St. Ignace in your thoughts and prayers, as she is dealing with health issues.
At Jamica Diamond and Gary Revord's, Jamica is working on her art and Gary is working with furs and renovating his motorcycle.
Jerri Rose traveled to Sault Ste. Marie with Terry Matteson and Esther Murphy for a ladies day out. Thursday, Ms. Rose attended a luncheon with a sewing group in St. Ignace.
Michael and Helena Shepard hosted a birthday dinner for Thora Shepard Saturday evening at their home on Gros Cap Road. Friday, Jack and Thora took a trip to Sault Ste. Marie.
The Shepard kids, Tucker, Tessa, and Tabitha, have an awesome sliding hill at the new house property off Cheeseman Road. Enough snow has covered the driveway leading to the new house to afford excellent sledding.
News from the O'Boyle household includes Katelyn O'Boyle's 3.867 grade point average, putting her on the dean's list at Lake Superior State University. Congratulations to Katelyn.
I was going through old photos this weekend and came across one of Katelyn sitting on the mailbox rail, waiting for the kindergarten bus to pick her up. How time moves on.
Kyle O'Boyle has been taking classes at Northern Michigan University all fall and winter, and doing well.
I hope you did your patriotic duty and voted Tuesday. It is your privilege. We are fortunate, indeed.
