Jenny Campbell, daughter of Bill and Kathy Campbell and a third grade student at St. Ignace Elementary School, sang the national anthem before the Saints girls basketball games against Cheboygan Thursday, January 10. She also sang Friday, January 11, before the boys game. Miss Campbell is a member of the elementary choir. Phillip Therrian, who is now a resident of Midland, is spending the winter months in Yuma, Arizona. His family grew up on Pointe LaBarbe Road and today his sister-in-law, Phylis Therrian, still resides at that same home.

Lindsey Blair, daughter of Michele and Todd Blair, will be 12 years old Wednesday, January 16. She will celebrate her birthday at home with a few classmates.

Evelyn Corp will celebrate her birthday Friday, January 18. Mrs. Corp is known by many folks in town, and many remember her role as Dr. Shaftoe's nurse for many years.

Little bundles of joy were delivered at home then, and I happened to be one of those babies.

Movie night at the St. Ignace library will feature "Arctic Tales" Thursday, January 17, at 6:30 p.m. It's free of charge, with refreshments included.

We welcome Lindean and George Shooter back home after they traveled to Ohio to spend time with relatives.

The Kiwanis Club has scheduled a Tailgate Dinner at LaSalle High Friday, February 8, to benefit the school band program. Food will be served from 5 p.m to 6:30 p.m.

Mary Pemble Swiderski tells us this weekend's Ice Follies will be an exciting show. Figure skating sisters Katie, 15, and Linda Raynard, 9, of Pickford, members of the Hiawatha Skating Club in Sault Ste. Marie, will be among skaters to show their talents this Sunday at our city ice arena. The Twin Bay Figure Skating Club of Traverse City and Lyndsay Schrader of the Northern Michigan University figure skating team will highlight the program. Tickets will be available at the door. The show benefits child abuse prevention programs in the county.

Happiness is a long January bicycle ride around St. Ignace. Keep your snow shovels handy.

Many schools in the area, including St. Ignace Area Schools, were closed Friday, January 11, following a heavy snowfall Thursday night.

School was delayed by two hours in St. Ignace and many surrounding areas Monday, January 14, as well, with snow continuing to fall over the weekend.
