Rudyard High School was the scene to showcase plenty of talent from Rudyard and the surrounding areas as "Yoopers Have Talent" was held Saturday, January 12. First place went to Jacob Zeeryp of Rudyard, second place to Joe Leach of Pickford, and third place to Raina Vert of Brimley.

Honorable mentions were Josh LaCoursiere of Rudyard, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia Band" (Melanie Case, Liz Jacobus, Mark Farney, Jess Sanner, Tyler Detloff, and Travis Johnson), and Marylyn Lawlor of Fibre. Nineteen acts entertained the audience, including John Welcher, Meta Welcher, Isiah Otten, Katy Danaher, Frank Blissett, April Vigliotti Band, Ashley Traynor, Jay Lynn Soeltner, Sam Hruaia, Larry Flanders, Danielle Petingalo, Savannah Dugan, Kylie Coffey, Korisa Hakola, and the "Outshined" band (Caleb Peters, Jacob Zeeryp, Jacob Peters, and Jamie Brown). Trophies and cash prizes were awarded. Paul Van- Wagoner was the master of ceremonies and David Hoolsema was the sound man. Judges included David Erfourth, Kim Falbo, and Bill Goetz. The talent show was sponsored by the Rudyard Area Education Fund.

The all night senior party is one last night for high school seniors to celebrate before everyone goes their separate ways, and this year's graduating class at Rudyard High wants to make the evening extra special, so students are planning some fundraisers. During the Rudyard vs. Manistique basketball game Tuesday, February 12, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the senior class will be offering a dinner of two slices of pizza, salad, dessert, and a beverage for $5. Afamily can eat for $15, and slices will be sold individually for $2. Everyone in the community can come out and help support the seniors, and the varsity boys to a win.

Aquacising is a low impact exercise done in the water, and Deb McDonald is the instructor for the class at the Rudyard swimming pool. The cost is $3 for adults and $2.50 for seniors, and no registration is required. The class meets every Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the pool.
