Local Students Place in Sault Elks Hoop Shoot

Eight Les Cheneaux Community Schools students took several top places in the annual Elks District Hoop Shoot at Sault Middle School in Sault Ste. Marie in November, and three participated in the Upper Peninsula Finals in December.
Madi Kruger took second place in the girls ages 10-11 group.
Kharizma Labinski took first place and Kelley Wright took second place in the girls ages 12-13 group.
Joey Duncan took first place in the boys ages 10-11 group.
Jimmy Haske took first place, Derek Griffin took second, and Josh Hester took third in the boys ages 12-13 group.
First place winners from each age division were eligible to compete in the Upper Peninsula Hoop Shoot Finals competition in Escanaba December 22. Joey Duncan, Jimmy Haske, and Kharizma Labinski all participated but did not qualify for the January state competition.

The Elks Hoop Shoot is hosted by Elks Lodge 552 of Sault Ste. Marie, with the help of Sault High School.
