Lauren Goldthorpe Qualifies for State Gymnastics Finals

Goldthorpe, 13, competed in four events.
She placed fifth in the balance beam with a score of 8.875; sixth in the floor/ routine at 8.725; seventh in the vault at 8.600; and participated in the uneven bar.
After the four events were tabulated, Goldthorpe, who has competed for more than five years, finished eighth overall, with a score of 33.850.
"I was pleased with my effort during the day," she said. "My favorite event is the balance beam, but I enjoy the sport."
She is the daughter of Donna and David Goldthorpe of St. Ignace.
