Condolences to the family of longtime Engadine resident Emma Feneley, 91, who passed away Tuesday, March 4, at the Masonic Pathways in Alma, where she had been residing for the past three years.
Several family members gathered at the home of Meggan and Ray Morrison Sunday, March 9, for a birthday party for their daughter, Mallory, who turned two years old Tuesday, March 11. Mallory had fun opening presents. "She loved her Sponge Bob Square Pants birthday cake and playing with her new toys," her mother said.
Everyone is welcome to an allyou can-eat fish fry at the McMillan United Methodist Church Friday, March 14, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Columbus Town Hall in McMillan. Donation is $8 per person. There also will be a bake sale.
The Curtis Community Arts Council presents "Yooper Home Companion" Thursday, March 13, and Saturday, March 15, at 6:30 p.m. at Chamberlin's Ole Forest Inn, performed by the Portage Players, featuring musicians Dan Flesher and Jeff Guenther. There will be hors d'oeuvres and a dessert buffet. Cost is a $25 donation for adults and $18 for children younger than 10. Tickets are available at the Curtis Service and Chamberlin's Ole Forest Inn in Curtis, and at The Old Bank Collection of Shops in Newberry.
Saturday, March 15, don't miss the annual Woodchopper's Ball, sponsored by the Tahquamenon Logging Museum and held at the American Legion in Newberry, starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $7.50, which includes lunch. For more information, call (906) 293- 3816.
The Manistique Lakes Lions Club will have a pancake brunch Sunday, March 16, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Community Building in Curtis. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. There also will be a bake sale. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Newberry Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the annual dinner awards. Nomination forms are available at the Chamber office and WNBY radio station in Newberry.
There will be bingo Thursday, March 20, at the Newton Township Hall in Gould City. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with bingo starting at 7 p.m. Players must be 18 years old.
The Newberry Elks Club will have men's stag night Thursday, March 20.
Thursday, March 20, the Mc- Millan Lodge 400 of Free and Accepted Masons will meet for dinner at the Elks Lodge at 6 p.m., and at 7 p.m. the group will hold a program at the Lodge.
The Newberry Eagles Club will have a fish fry Friday, March 21, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Club on M-28 in Newberry.
