The St. Ignace Area Community Foundation is accepting spring grant applications.

The Foundation will give $23,000 in scholarships and grants this spring.

Grants are awarded semi-annually. Interest earnings from endorsement funds are used to benefit the community through the grant program.

The spring grants include scholarships available to high school seniors, who are considered under several criteria, with an emphasis on volunteer community service.

In 2008, the Foundation will award about $2,000 more than last year for a total of $34,500, with $11,500 reserved for the fall grant program.

The deadline to submit an application is Wednesday, April 16. The grants will be announced at an awards ceremony in May.
