It was a beautiful day for a wedding, as Nick Rye and Leeann Vansloten exchanged vows at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rudyard Saturday, March 29. The church was filled with happy family and friends seeing the two join together in marriage. Leeann was given in marriage by her parents, Tim and Betty Mayer. A reception followed at Lake Superior State University Cisler Center. Congratulations to the happy couple.
Ten teams from Newberry, Rudyard, and Malcolm competed in a Math Bowl Friday, March 14, at Lake Superior State University's Pi Day celebration. The "Rudyard Wiseguys" team of Andrew Otten, Billy DeYoung, Josh McCullom, and Thomas McMillan took first place in the double elimination tournament.
The "Rudyard American PI" team of Isiah Otten, Cara VanDusen, C. J. Raffaele, and George Kinsella finished in third place. Other competitors from Rudyard included Brett VanSloten, Jared Clark, Scott Coffey, Sidney VanAlstine, Jared Meehan, Carrie Berkompas, Morgan Zeeryp, and Tyler Wilson.
The Rudyard pool will be open while school is on spring break. The hours are as follows: Thursday, April 3: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; Sunday, April 6: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Kinross Recreation Center has new hours and will be open Monday through Friday from noon to 9 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. The new hours start April 5.
Also at the recreation center, there will be a park and recreation meeting Monday, April 14, starting at 5:30 p.m. A tribal town hall meeting will be at 6 p.m. that day, as well.
Don't forget about the benefit dinner for Jon Brown Wednesday, April 23, at 5 p.m. Donations are being accepted so that Jon can be a people-to-people ambassador in Australia.
Brandon Radle's birthday is Thursday, April 3. He will be 14. He celebrated his birthday this week with family and friends at the Rudyard Pool. If you see Brandon in town, you may want to wish him a happy birthday.
