With the cold, windy weather, last weekend was not the best of weekends for the sand dunes clean-up, but the 30 or so volunteers who gathered persevered and gathered bags of trash off the beaches. Joe Chalmers and Ray Baron were workers representing Trinity Lutheran Church.

Joe counted 29 dead birds in a one-half mile area along the shore of Lake Michigan. There were told not to touch the birds, as they would be dealt with another time. A lunch was served by the folks at the White Tail Restaurant.

In conjunction with the Sunday morning message at Trinity, Sue St. Onge of St. Ignace gave a brief talk on recycling and handed out printed information on how to better deal with recyclables.

Jerri Huyck of St. Ignace visited with Dot Glashaw of Epoufette Bay last week. Dot attended the health fair in St. Ignace last week.

Brian and Jeannie Rose spent last week enjoying their grandson, Kaden Ksar, the son of Kari and Jamal Ksar of Troy.

Dave and I spent this past weekend in Howell with Eric, Kelli, Amanda, and Zach Movalson. It was a delightful weekend. We got acquainted with the new cat, Butterscotch.

We had the kids to ourselves Saturday, so a trip to Charlie and Pam Movalson's farm, north of Howell, was in order.

Beatrice and Jon Zak of Painesville, Ohio, spent a few days in the area visiting with friends and relatives.

Pega and John Kennedy have opened the Wildwood Pastie Shop for the season.

Please keep John Kennedy and Dave Movalson in your thoughts and prayers this week, as they both are undergoing tests for health issues.

Dave and I miss seeing Joe Matelski, Mort Becker, and Ben Matelski, as their job in Brevort is winding down.

My rhubarb is looking good, and the asparagus bed is just waiting for those little green tips to push up through the soil. We have hopes of a good blueberry crop this summer. Past summers have been so hot and dry, we feel we're due.

The St. Ignace Hope Chest will be dedicated Saturday, May 3, at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend, including volunteers and friends of the Hope Chest. Refreshments will be served. This is a chance to see all of the new improvements in the building.
