The Clark Township Neighborhood Watch meeting will be Tuesday, May 13, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Clark Township Hall in Cedarville.

At the meeting, Mackinac County Sheriff Scott Strait will review the minor in possession offense, and consequences for people younger than 21 who are caught with alcohol. It is against Michigan law for people to possess alcohol if they are younger than 21, and adults can be held responsible. Possession of controlled substances will also be reviewed.

The group is also seeking suggestions for where to place a dozen Neighborhood Watch signs.

The signs recently arrived in Cedarville, and Haske Cedar Post of Cedarville donated 12 posts for their installation. A group of Boy Scouts will install the signs as an Eagle Scout project.

The Neighborhood Watch group also warns people to keep an eye on their gasoline tanks and be wary of siphoning.

Thieves recently siphoned gasoline from a boat at a dock, said Neighborhood Watch coordinator Loren Dingman, but the boat owner did not file a complaint with law enforcement officials.

With the high price of gasoline, Mr. Dingman said, there will likely be more incidents. Stolen fuel should be reported, he advised.
