Election Workers Gather at St. Ignace Library
By plane, boat, and automobile, about 60 Mackinac County election workers arrived to fill the community room at the St. Ignace Public Library Wednesday, April 23, to learn more about election laws and the election day process, from opening to closing the polls. Five workers flew from Bois Blanc Island to attend, nine Mackinac Island residents took a ferry boat to St. Ignace, and others traveled by car from across the county. An early morning class also was held in Engadine. Conducted by Peter Dishnow (left), a state election specialist from Marquette, the class is required for those who will run the polls. Election workers attending earn a two-year certification, issued by County Clerk Mary Kay Tamlyn. |
