Two competitive road races have been approved by Mackinac Island City Council, a Detroit Regional Chamber race May 29, and a Michigan Hospital Association race, to be June 26.

Both races are held on the Island annually by nonprofit organizations and both will begin at 6:30 a.m.

The May 29 two-mile race will begin at Mackinac Island Public School, and end at Grand Hotel. Thirty to 40 runners are expected to participate.

The June 26 race will begin at Grand Hotel's Jockey Club on Cadotte Avenue, go toward Lakeshore Drive out to British Landing, and cut through the middle of the Island, ending back at the hotel. About 30 people are expected to participate.
