Temporary Power Outage To Be Expected on Island's French Lane
Parts of French Lane on Mackinac Island will temporarily be without power Wednesday, April 30, and possibly Thursday, May 1, while workers from Edison Sault Electric Company bury a primary cable line that is now hanging from poles.
The project on French Lane, behind Windermere Hotel, began last fall, said Craig Davidson, manager of Edison Sault's St. Ignace division. He said Lakeview Hotel and Windermere Hotel should be the only buildings affected. Power may be out for several hours.
Edison Sault is also burying a line on the East Bluff, continuing a project that was started behind Fort Mackinac and the Scout Barracks. Work now begins near the BeDour residence and workers plan to bury the line as far as Arch Rock.
East Bluff residents should see little to no interruption to their power during construction, Mr. Davidson said.
