Winners of the 26th annual photograph contest for the Mackinac Island Recreational Development (MIRD) 2010 Seasons of Mackinac calendar have been announced.

The annual contest was held during the Island's Winter Festival February 2, with entries voted on by those attending.

More than 300 photographs were entered, surpassing last year's record number of 289.

The following are the winning photographs for each month:

Front Cover (2) - Straits of Mackinac waters cooling to freezing point, and blocks of ice piled high in front of Round Island Lighthouse. Both photographs were taken by Sara Chambers of Mackinac Island.

March - Winter travel on snow covered Grand Boulevard by Sara Chambers, Mackinac Island.

April - Double rainbow arcs over ferry boats and bay by Steve Moskwa, Mackinac Island.

May - Fort Mackinac cannon protects Straits of Mackinac by Kimberly Parr, Harper Woods.

June - Wedding carriage awaiting wedding couple at Grand Hotel by Steven Blair, Traverse City.

July - American flag waves over Mackinac sunset by Jay Stingel, Mackinac Isaland.

August - Restored 1896 Straits of Mackinac Round Island Lighthouse by Jo Ann Preston, Dunedin, Florida.

September - Sunrise under Arch Rock by Gaspare Calandrino, Ada.

October - Fall colors at stairway to Point Lookout by Marcia and Tom Tomlinson, Mackinac Island.

November - Bright fall colors surround Straits of Mackinac by Chuck Kleber, Mackinac Island.

December - Christmas lights brighten Mackinac Island's Main Street by Anita Wingert, Sault Ste. Marie.

MIRD's 2009 calendar is on sale for $10 each. Proceeds support community recreation on Mackinac Island.
