Dale A. Overbeek of West Olive was a former Hessel resident who continued to maintain and visit a hunting camp in Hessel after he moved downstate. He had many friends in Cedarville, Hessel, and around the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

He worked for more than 20 years as a sales manager for Michigan Orchard Supply in South Haven. Mr. Overbeek died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Holland Hospital in Holland, Michigan, at age 59.

He was born in Holland July 29, 1948, to Marvin and Hermina (nee Schreurbeek) Overbeek.

He married Kathy TenBrink February 21, 2006, and she survives him.

Mr. Overbeek served in the United States Army. He was an avid outdoorsman, friends recall, and he was a member of the American Veterans and the Rocky Mountain Elk Society.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Overbeek is survived by a son and his family, Zachary and Nina Overbeek; two daughters, Lacey and Jef Dryer and Jocelyn Cantu; seven grandchildren, Alex, Austin, Adrian, Caden, Reece, Amaya, and Gage; two brothers and their families, Ron and Jackie Overbeek, and Tom and Debra Overbeek; a sister and her family, Kristi and Joe LaGuidice; his wife's parents, Jack and Karen TenBrink, and Betty and Jerry Berkmoes; brothers and sisters-in-law and their families, Tim and Diane TenBrink, Jan and Jeff VerBerkmoes, and Tracey Inso; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Services were Monday, May 19, at Hope Church in Holland. The Reverend Bill Russell officiated.

Memorial donations can be made to the Robinson Grace Church of Grand Haven Building Fund.

Clock Life Story Funeral Home of Grand Haven assisted the family with arrangements.
