Very attractive boats have been arriving in our beautiful marina, a sure sign of summer on its way. Walking the boardwalk is a relaxing way to spend free time and capture interesting sights. You can walk to the lighthouse and have a seat.
Beckka Litzner, the young daughter of Connie and Dan Litzner, is a cheerful and helpful volunteer at our Hope Chest resale store.
A surprise call came from Doug Love, of Battle Creek, who said he is a regular reader of The St. Ignace News.
Don McKinnon is happy to be home again after a short hospital stay.
Carol Bell and her co-workers have been busy dressing up flower beds all around the city.
Word was received that the annual Red Hat Convention at St. Ignace has been canceled for this year.
The community yard sale in St. Ignace will be Saturday, June 14, downtown from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Masonic Lodge 369 will be holding its 122nd annual dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 14. The Lodge's Mason of the Year, Ron Tamlyn, will be recognized for all of the effort he has given.
Katrina Guifgamo of Belleville was a weekend guest of her parents, Peg and Skip Jarman in St. Ignace.
Sid Seward, originally of St. Ignace, sent a message to say he enjoys The St. Ignace News and its coverage of our home town for people no longer living here, and enjoyed the June 5 issue in particular. Mr. Seward is living in Fort Worth, Texas, following his retirement from the Air Force and U.S. government in 1985.
Touch of Craft opened its door for business Monday, June 9. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. A wide variety of items are made by local folks 55 years of age and older. People can stop in and browse or volunteer their time to help at the store.
Birthdays for June 12 are Jim Laakko, Sharon Smith, Joan Ruegg, and Don McLeod. Jean Sterk's birthday is June 14, and her husband, Harold, has a birthday June 15.
Those celebrating wedding anniversaries are Marcie and Dan Sweeney June 12, Sharon and Larry Lasley June 13, Reverend and Jim and Mary Balfour June 14, and Crista and Bob Brown June 16.
