A petition seeking mandated health care as a state constitution amendment will be available for the public to sign at the St. Ignace Public Library Wednesday, June 11, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The petition requests the November 6 election ballot offer voters the opportunity to have lawmakers amend the Michigan Constitution to require the legislature to provide primary, preventive, acute, and chronic health care to every Michigan resident.

If enough signatures are obtained on the petition, the proposal would be placed on the November ballot for consideration by voters.

The initiative is sponsored by the Health Care for Michigan organization.

For more information or to schedule an alternative time to sign the petition, call 643-0383.
