Randell Briggs
Randell Briggs Randell Briggs of St. Ignace came to live here in the 1970s as a member of the United States Coast Guard. He spent six years in Coast Guard service, leaving in 1975. After that he worked as a cook in many local restaurants, including the Truck Stop, Huron Landing, Galley, Zodiac, North Bay Inn, and Hill Top, all in St. Ignace. He most recently worked at Hessel Bay Inn in Hessel, where his family lived for several years until returning to St. Ignace in 2008.
Mr. Briggs died Saturday evening, June 21, 2008, at his home on South State Street in St. Ignace, after a five-month bout with cancer.
He was born in McKiso, New York, August 27, 1952, to Leonard and Arlene (nee Tripp) Briggs.
Mr. Briggs married Rosemary Rickley May 21, 1976, in St. Ignace, and she survives him. He is also survived by three sons, Andy and Tina Briggs of Hessel, and Charles Briggs and Randell Briggs Jr. of St. Ignace; two daughters, Sherry Briggs and Gina Briggs, both of St. Ignace; a sister, Lynn Corello Briggs of Norwalk, Connecticut; three grandchildren, Donivan Green, Trenton Briggs, and Sara Harrison; a nephew, George Rickley, and a niece, Mary Jo Rindy.
A gathering for family members and friends will take place Sunday, June 29, at 2 p.m., at the Coast Guard Park on Dock 3 in St. Ignace. His ashes will be interred later this year in New York.
Dodson Funeral Home of St. Ignace assisted the family with arrangements.
