Rexton-Garnet
Just like that we've reached the Fourth of July. It seems like only yesterday we were shoveling snow and complaining about the cold weather.
The weekend, according to the weatherman, promises to be full of sunshine and blue skies, along with summer-like temperatures.
The choices for parades are seemingly limitless, with a kiddie parade Thursday, July 3, in Naubinway - then turn your car around and go back for the Fourth of July parade, the great Knights of Columbus fish fry, and the Naubinway Sault Tribe Elders bake sale. Say hello to old friends, who always find their way home around this time. Head to the beach and stick around for the fireworks at dusk. The marina will be closed, but most parking spots in town offer a great view.
Sunday, July 6, the biggest little small town parade in Curtis is where everyone will congregate. If you get there early, you can get chicken from the famous Knights of Columbus booth, and settle in for a day in Curtis.
Congratulations to Mark and Amanda Livermore on the arrival of their daughter, Addison, who arrived Thursday, June 26, weighing 8 pounds, 3 ounces, and measuring 20 inches in length at birth.
The Habitat for Humanity house, on the corner of Borgstrom and Hiawatha Trail, will be a beehive of activity next week, when a youth group from a downstate church will be donating a week's worth of time and talent to refurbish the house.
Condolences to Cindy Montgomery Stephenson on the passing of her mom, Roberta.
Folks in our tiny towns will remember a jovial and friendly lady, who enjoyed coming in this direction to play Wednesday night euchre. Nettie Ackley, usually accompanied by Gay Kerridge Matson, passed away this past week, as well. Condolences to her family.
Birthday wishes to Betsy Spencer of Epoufette and Kyle Franklin June 30, Dwight Hart and a family favorite, our sisterin law, Louella Snow, both celebrating July 3, Penny Browning July 4, and our friend and neighbor, Connie Paquin, and our granddaughter, Cyelste, July 6.
Anniversary wishes to Greg and Mary Livermore July 2 and Nathan and Jaci Livermore July 4.
