There was a good breeze blowing early this Monday morning, June 30, enough to keep the mosquitoes at bay.

Ed Heenan of Austin, Texas, is home for a couple of weeks, as are Charlie, Pam, and Chrissy Movalson, and Eric, Kelli, Miss Amanda, and Zach Movalson of Howell. Fishing is the order of the day. (Hope it gets better than Sunday's foray on Big Brevort Lake.)

Beatrice and Jon Zak are here from Ohio for some relaxation.

Jim and Ann Dyer attended a family wedding in Comstock Park this past week, and visited with Ann Wright of Greenville, before coming home. Tim Buschert and family were weekend guests of Jim and Ann.

Sharon Chalmers is downstate visiting with her sister and other family members. In the meantime, Joe's brother, Murray, was in Brevort spending time with Joe, and watching the Detroit Tigers. "Go, Tigers!" Joe says Clete Thomas is a Norman Rockwell painting in progress, with the expressions on his face when he makes a base on a hit or a catch in the field.

Sara Campbell, granddaughter of Tom and Joyce Gustafson, is the Upper New York State La Crosse champion. She is the daughter of Steve and April Lynn Campbell of Saratoga Springs, New York.

Nine-year-old Jared Cece caught a three-pound, 3.6-ounce smallmouth bass while fishing in the Epoufette area Thursday, June 26. His parents are Sherry and Terry Cece of Cut River. Jenna Jewel spent some vacation time with her grandmother, Dot Glashaw, this past week.

Owen and Barb Jorgensen enjoyed a Sunday visit with Mike, Melanie, Melissa, and Matthew Jorgensen. Mike and Melanie will be putting the sail- boat in at the St. Ignace marina this week.

Bob Jarzynka has been picking strawberries from his patch this past week. He has quite a few in the freezer to enjoy when the snow flies this winter.

Denny and Jackie Rippett journeyed to Manistique to recycle their old computer. They visited with Rachel Gibson of Curtis on the way home.

Thora and Jack Shepard are doing some serious gardening this week. The ground is warm, and good weather is here.

Jackie and Jim Rogers have their potatoes planted, red, white, and yellow. The community garden is still a work in progress.

Mary Carney has just returned from her 50th class reunion in Maine. Out of 29 graduates, 24 attended the festivities. The ladies wore poodle skirts and neck scarves. (Couldn't find saddle shoes or white bucks with red soles.) She rode the class float, pulled by a tractor, and it won first prize. Mary said they are all "well preserved New Englanders." This was the first time Mary was able to attend her reunion, owing to working or running a business the other times. It was great fun.
