The Top of the Lake Snowmobile Museum in Naubinway has drawn the attention of Michigan Travel Ideas magazine's list of 10 great museums in Michigan.

Naubinway's museum, full of "old and odd" sleds, is worth a visit, reports Michigan Travel Ideas in its 2008 issue.

"It is exciting for us. We are proud of the people who have contributed," said museum manager Marilyn Vallier.

There are 67 antique and vintage sleds displayed, belonging to 23 people at Top of the Lake.

The museum is open during the summer Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and receives a steady stream of summer visitors. Since last July, 2,300 people have visited the museum.

Television ads promoting Upper Peninsula travel opportunities have also included the museum, Mrs. Vallier added.

"We were surprised to get the attention, but we knew the interest was out there because of the success of our winter show," she told The St. Ignace News, referring to the Top of the Lake Antique and Vintage Snowmobile Show and Ride in Naubinway, which takes place each February.
