Roberta "Bert" A. Montgomery, 68, of Engadine, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique from complications of a stroke.

Born December 17, 1939, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Robert and Norma (nee Bigelow) Mihlader.

She was a 1958 graduate of South Lake High School in St. Clair Shores. She had been a resident of Engadine for more than 20 years.

Ms. Montgomery is survived by eight children and their families, John and Marie Montgomery of Utica, William and Suzanne Montgomery of Harbor Springs, Robert and Peggy Montgomery of St. Clair Shores, James and Danielle Montgomery of Shelby Township, Cynthia and Earl Stephenson of Manistique, Christopher Menominee, serving in the U.S. Army in Seoul, South Korea, Charles Menominee, and Daniel Menominee, both of Manistique; one sister and her family, Helen and John Lekki of Lapeer; 13 grandchildren, Heather Montgomery, Ian Montgomery, Jessica Montgomery, Ellen Montgomery, Jacob Montgomery, Andrew Montgomery, Benjamin Montgomery, Erik Montgomery, Julia Montgomery, Joshua Montgomery, Holly Montgomery, John Montgomery, and Michael Stephenson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Duane Mihlader.

Friends called at the Rexton Mennonite Church Friday, June 27, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Services followed at the church with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Burial took place at Caffey Cemetery in Rexton.

Memorials may be made to the Rexton Mennonite Church.

Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry is assisting the family with arrangements.
