Kinross Siblings Give Local Stage-fighting Demonstration

Kinross native Orion Couling returned to the area to teach a stage-fighting workshop and performance at Soo Theatre Project. The two day stage-fighting workshops were Monday, June 30, and Wednesday, July 2, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and will be performed Saturday, July 5, at 7:30 p.m. at Soo Theatre Project in downtown Sault Ste. Marie.

Mr. Couling was joined by his sister, Emily Couling, who is attending Northern Michigan University and studying theater and voice.

Following his graduation, with honors, from Northern Michigan University, Mr. Couling founded Esteem Development Through Greater Expectations (EDGE), is the artistic director of Eudaimonia Professional Theatre and Gymkhana Studios, teaches studio classes in the Chicago area, and works as a fight director with independent films. Mr. Couling is recognized as an associate teacher for dueling arts, and is an advanced actor combatant for the Society of American Fight Directors.

Miss Couling has been in many productions around this area, including with Soo Theatre Project. Among the many productions that she participated in last year, she directed "All I Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" and was the lead in "Warrior" performed through Northern Michigan University.
