Inaugural Battle at the Bridge

Wrestling Tournament July 13

Little Bear East Arena in St. Ignace will host the first Battle of the Bridge Wrestling Tournament Sunday, July 13. Youth wrestlers from around the state are expected to compete.

Weigh-ins and registration will be Saturday, July 12, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 13, from 7 am. to 8 a.m. at the cost of $25. Wrestling starts at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Seven weight classes will compete, beginning with ages five and six, through an open class. Singlets, shorts, and shirts and required.

Jim Clement To Hold

Basketball

Skills Camps in July

Jim Clement of St. Ignace will offer two youth basketball shooting and offensive skills camps Monday, July 7, through Wednesday, July 9, and Monday, July 14, through Wednesday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at LaSalle High School.

Cost for each session is $39.

Clement is a former basketball standout for the St. Ignace Saints, University of Toledo Rockets, and Lake Superior State University Lakers, and played in Portugal and Ireland in the European League.

Clement will teach proper shooting techniques, shooting drills, correct footwork, reading screens, one-on-one moves, ball handling, and winning attitude.

St. Ignace Saints Cheer Team

To Hold Can and Bottle Drive

The St. Ignace Saints varsity cheer team will hold a can and bottle drive from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 12.

The 13 cheerleaders include Arielle Kammers, Elissa Crystal, Jordan Grogan, Shelby Peters, Katie Garries, Amara Ellis, Kara Fitzpatrick, Brooke Mattila, Annmarie Horn, Meghann Colegrove, Jessica Bentley, Cierra Barker, and Tessa Pavia.

St. Ignace Sports Boosters To Host Red Hacker Basketball

The St. Ignace Sports Boosters will host the annual Red Hacker 3-on-3, 4-on-4, and 5-on-5 basketball tournament near Little Bear East Arena Saturday, July 12.

Black Bear Run/ Walk

Set for July 4

The 26th annual Black Bear Run/Walk will take place at the Engadine High School Friday, July 4.

Registration will be from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on the day of the race.

Rudyard Summerfest Triathlon

5K Run Set for July 27

The Rudyard Lions Summerfest Triathlon and 5K Run will be Sunday, July 27, beginning at the Rudyard High School parking lot at 9:30 a.m.

Registration for the triathlon is $32, and for the 5K run $15, before Tuesday, July 15. The cost is $35 and $16, respectively, after the deadline. Contact Gary Davis at 478-5244 for more information.
