Barbara Jean DePlonty of Sault Ste. Marie passed away Monday morning, June 30, 2008, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette. She was 65 years old.

She was born May 11, 1943, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Clair and Lillian (nee Arbic) Thompson.

She married Wallace De- Plonty May 11, 1996, Bruce Township.

She was an avid Detroit Red Wings hockey fan, and she also enjoyed reading, painting, and making crafts. She loved playing with her grandchildren, and giving them all turns driving the golf cart, friends said.

Mrs. DePlonty is survived by her husband; a son and his family, D.J. and Lainie Tracey of Dafter; two daughters and their families, Debbie Sabisch and Bob Williams of Sault Ste. Marie, and Raechelle and Keith Erickson of Sault Ste. Marie; six stepsons and their families, Carl and Sandy DePlonty of Sault Ste. Marie, Tom and Jolene DePlonty of Sault Ste. Marie, Jim and Cathy DePlonty of Bellaire, David and Connie DePlonty of Sault Ste. Marie, Gary and Shelly Mitchell of St. Ignace, and Dan and Pauline Mitchell of Hessel; two stepdaughters and their families, Patti and Jim Perron of Sault Ste. Marie, and Deanna Mitchell of St. Ignace; nine grandchildren, Lillian and Chase Tracey, Travis and Steven Sabisch, Taylor and Seth Williams, and Clay, Cal, and Claire Erickson; many dearly loved step-grandchildren; four sisters and their families, Doris and Carlyle Ellis of Drummond Island, Judi and David Sanders of Grand Blanc, Catherine and John Humphreys of Casanovia, and Lois and Rob Kangas of Chandler, Arizona, and three brothers and their families, Austin and Wanda Thompson of Sault Ste. Marie, Ron Thompson of St. Ignace, and Don and Sharon Thompson of Clarkston. Her siblings affectionately referred to her as "Baba."

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clair and Lillian Thompson, three sons, Jeffrey, Bobby, and Billy Tracey, and one sister, Margaret Thompson.

Visitation was Thursday, July 3, at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home in Sault Ste. Marie. Services were the same day, with Pastor Leroy Case officiating.

Burial was in Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township.
