Frank and Tom LaBelle, a local father-and-son team in Foxy Lady, earned championship honors at the annual Ensign Class Sailing Regatta at the Les Cheneaux Islands Friday, July 11, through Saturday, July 12. The event attracted 28 boats from five states for a seven-race series in Wilderness Bay near Hessel. More ... The minimum deposit required to open a commuter account at the Mackinac Bridge was increased two-fold, from $40 to $80, Saturday, July 12, and the one-time fee to process the account rose from $5 to $10. The Saints of Steel band took the stage at the Cheboygan Opera House Saturday, July 12, treating a large audience to a concert at which the band was also recording its second CD. The band is made up of St. Ignace students, with a few guest performers for the occasion, and played about a dozen songs.
