The signs of summer are all around and as sure as the sun comes up in the morning, summer will hurry by faster than we can turn the calendar.

Memories of the past 50 years were shared as the children of Richard and Margaret Becker, down Black River way, surprised their parents on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 19. Richard and Robert of Traverse City, Lynette of Kinde, and David of Chicago, Illinois, as well as in-laws, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren surrounded the Beckers with love, hugs, and even a few tears. Mrs. Becker said the house was full to overflowing, in a good way.

Next Sunday morning the 20/20 youth group from the Rexton Mennonite Church will leave for this year's mission trip to inner city Chicago.

A Back to School fashion show will be held at the Wildwood Mennonite Church on Sandtown Road Sunday, August 10, at 3 p.m. Teen models will be featuring fashions and hors d'oeuvres and punch will be available.

Dave and Robyn Albrecht traveled to Indiana to pick up their daughter, Abby, who has been employed there for part of the summer.

Dale and Evelyn Burgess continue to host grandchildren who are taking turns staying during the summer.

Birthday wishes to Connie Gouza, who celebrated July 14, Olivia Browning, Grant Gouza, and Jill Kerridge July 16, Mary Jane Cobe July 19, Bill Darknell, Kristen Derusha, Darlene Shoemaker, and Loren Hins July 20, and Courtney Aldrich July 21.

Speedy recovery to Donna Derusha and area folks who continue to deal with health issues.

Condolences to the family of Rose Beisel. Mr. Beisel drove the Rexton to Engadine school bus long ago, and Mrs. Beisel was always ready with a smile and a pleasant hello when you would see them at school functions.
