The Hamburger Bash last week in the lower level of the Pickford Township Hall was a great success. Pictured is a group of the Linger Longers, who enjoyed the food and stayed longer to enjoy good company and listen to the Pickin' and Grinnin' Band. The Historical Society of Pickford hosted the bash to collect donated funds to help defray the costs and upkeep of the Historical Museum.

Alex and Delores Cottle are lifetime members of the group, and attend most functions, if not meetings, Delores said.

Bill and Verna Watson, former owners of the Watson Shoe Store 32 years ago, are lifetime members, also. Verna said they enjoyed the bash¿ and the "linger longer" portion.

For the most part, the supporters of the bash are lifetime members of the society and pay dues of $150 per family.

Stan Schmitigal, president of the Historical Society, said for anyone wishing to have an annual membership, it is $10 per person, and $25 per family. Mr. Schmitigal added that they have monthly meetings, as well as occasional special meetings like the one held this Tuesday evening to plan what the group will do for the Pickford Hay Days.

Anyone interested in becoming a Historical Society member may stop in at the museum in Pickford, or contact any one of the nine board members, Mr. Schmitigal said.

He and his wife, Marge, have been selected to be the Grand Marshals for the Hay Days Parade this year. Pickford's Hay Days theme is Flower Power. The event will be June 30 through August 9.
