The weekend was lovely. Trinity Lutheran Church had a capacity crowd owing to summer visitors and folks coming home.

Sharon and Ken Smith arrived home from Argentina last week. Welcome back.

Ed and Karen Anderson are in residence at their condominium.

Kirt and Laura Leibengood enjoyed the weekend at the Coffey cottage on Shore Road. Kirt and Laura are relative newlyweds, having married in March. They live in Perry.

Keep in mind, the Relay for Life will be Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26, at the St. Ignace Middle School, as the school's track is being resurfaced. This American Cancer Society fundraiser is open to all, and there are many activities to enjoy.

Sharon Smith celebrated her birthday by dining out with family Saturday, July 19.

Saturday was a decent day for washing windows, but I took time to sit down with Dave and Bruce Dodson and have a nice front porch visit. Bruce was on his way back from Epoufette.

Lee Quigley's memorial garden at her home on Shore Road is growing with new perennials planted by her grandson, Ross, and daughters, Candy Agee and Lorie Quigley.

We joined Candy, Lorie, and Ross for breakfast Sunday morning after church. While there, we made the acquaintance of Ann and Bruce O'Connell, who have a summer home on Big Brevoort Lake. It's always a pleasure to meet new folks.

Jackie Rippett underwent foot surgery last week and is doing well. She expects to be home this week, and she's bringing Denny back with her.

Joe and Sharon Chalmers entertained their former neighbors, Randy and Helen Haas, Sunday, July 20. Randy and Helen had traveled from their home in Macomb County to Sault Ste. Marie to visit Helen's mother and the Chalmers Sunday.

Sally Conklin enjoyed the company of her nephew, Pat Jackman, his wife, Lisa, and children, Lydia and Luke, this past weekend. The Jackmans are from Washington Township in Macomb County. Time was spent at the beach and four-wheeling to Split Rock, our local attraction, north of the village.

Morgan Gustafson camped with the Yoder family at the Yogi Bear Campground in Indian River this past weekend. Kristi Gustafson and Kelsey Will joined Lara Gustafson and Mary Beth Jasmund for a trip to Gaylord Saturday.

Lorie Quigley and Ross Houle, along with Dave and myself, boarded the pontoon for some serious fishing on Big Brevoort Lake Sunday. The fishing wasn't so good, but we surely enjoyed all of the snacks we packed. The wind was calm and the sun was warm. It was a good day.
