John Fenlon John Fenlon John Gerard Fenlon, 52, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

He was born August 7, 1955, in St. Ignace to John R. and Rena May (nee Cleary) Fenlon.

Mr. Fenlon was graduated from LaSalle High School and completed two years of college.

Mr. Fenlon met Catherine Belonga in St. Ignace, and they married and lived in Toledo, Ohio, for two years, then settling in Leelenau County, where they built their home.

He worked in sales for Midwest Refrigeration, retiring last year owing to health problems.

Mr. Fenlon had a deep inner strength, friends said, and he was one who could say much with few words. His enjoyment in life was not only working on his home and being outdoors, but especially watching his children grow up and being with his wife.

His hobbies included cross-country skiing, rollerblading, spending time in the woods, and pontooning with his friends.

Mr. Fenlon is survived by his wife, Catherine; his children, David, Brian, and Katie; his mother, Rena May Fenlon of St. Ignace; 13 siblings and their families, Patricia, Tim, Anne and Tom Demske, Mary, Kathy and Mike Hughes, Molly and Bud Matthews, Mike, Vicki and Dave Holdwick, Jane and Glen Hampton, Dan, Joe, Margaret and Jeff Saunders, and Susan and John Krol, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A gathering was held Monday, August 4, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. A Mass of Celebration was held Tuesday, August 5, at 11 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Reverend James Hayden officiating.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Fenlon children's college fund.
