Gordon Reid Gordon Reid Gordon Bennett Reid, 94, of Dafter died Saturday, August 2, 2008, at Tendercare in Sault Ste. Marie.

He was born July 24, 1914, in Dafter to Arthur Gordon and Fern

nee Kelly) Reid.

Mr. Reid lived most of his life in Dafter, where he was a farmer. He owned and operated Lake Superior Beef Company. Mr. Reid supported the local 4-H program and was a 4-H livestock buyer. After he retired, he spent winters in Arizona.

A member of the Faith Baptist Church in Dafter, Mr. Reid also belonged to the Moose Lodge in Sault Ste. Marie. He was a 60-year member of the Bethel Masonic Lodge 358 and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He belonged to the Ahmed Shriners of Marquette.

Fond of dancing, he enjoyed square dancing in particular. He also called square dances and had a collection of fiddles.

Mr. Reid enjoyed traveling. He went to Australia and Alaska, among other places.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Marjorie; and four sons and their families, Edward and Brenda

nee Benton) Reid of Lansing; Arthur and Dorla Reid of Dafter; Gene and Ruth Anne Reid of Fenton, and Karl and Phyllis Reid of North Pole, Alaska. He is survived by 12 grandchildren and their families, Marsha and Jerry Van Sloten of Rudyard, Cleve and Jeannie Reid of Sault Ste. Marie, Leah Reid of Lansing, Carli Reid of Lansing, Arthur B. and Kristin Reid of Sandpoint, Idaho, Jennifer Reid and Matt Strong of Knab, Utah, Crystal and Mark Blackwood of Rudyard, Suni Reid of Burton, Sherie Reid of Welch, West Virginia, Gary and Shanna Reid of Burton, Nick Reid of North Pole, and Cory Reid of North Pole; several great-grandchildren and their families, Kevin and Lindsey Van Sloten, Josh and Allison Reid, Kenny and Rebecca Reid, Aurora and Max Blackwood, Destiny Reid, and Jack Flowers; one sister, Fern Reid Millar of Lake Orion; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Newton of Traverse City, and Ruth Cope of Clarkston; nieces and nephews Wayne and Jane Smith, Marjean and Dean Roe, Kevin and Lori Smith, Carol Powell, Kay and Bill Kernick, Bruce and Dana Millar, Linda and Rich Pawlowski, and Art and Carolyn Atkinson. He is survived by stepchildren and their families Dr. John and Grace Glick of Finland, Minnesota, Lynn and Steve Wolden of Redlands, California, and Laurel and Rod Stenke of Mt. Lake, Minnesota.

Mr. Reid was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Pfeifer Reid, who died in 1982; two sisters and their husbands, Martha and John Smith, and Doris and Charlie Atkinson; a brother-in-law, William Millar, and nephews Gary Smith and Jimmy Atkinson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Masonic memorial service at 8 p.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Visitation will be Thursday, August 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 7, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Ray Wolfe conducting.

Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township.
