Evelyn Prokop Evelyn Prokop Evelyn Prokop, 97, a longtime resident of St. Ignace, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, in Anchorage, Alaska, where she had lived for the past 12 years.

Mrs. Prokop was born in 1911 to Herman and Ellen Pischner of Beaver Island.

In 1936, she married Dale Prokop on Beaver Island. He passed away in 1981.

Mrs. Prokop was a member of the St. Anne's Alter Society at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church. A literary enthusiast, she served as the St. Ignace librarian for several years. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Accornero of Hemet, California, and Plaza, North Dakota, Deanna Corp of Anchorage, and Helen Utter of Anchorage; five grandchildren, Michael Accornero of Woodbridge, Virginia, Nicholas Accornero of Mill Creek, Washington, Tonya Cartwright of Whidbey Island, Washington, Heather Utter of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Brien Utter of Seattle, and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held in July 2009 at the St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Cemetery in St. Ignace, where she will be buried next to her husband.
