Local restaurant owner Clementine Gosciniak, 88, of Evergreen Shores, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Mackinac Straits Hospital Long Term Care.

Mrs. Gosciniak and her husband, Richard, owned the Shores Restaurant and Lounge in Evergreen Shores since 1954 and the Embers Restaurant in Mackinaw City for 14 years.

She was born February 16, 1920, in Detroit to John and Helen (Zurawaski) Gudzikowski. She married Mr. Gosciniak in Detroit August 12, 1951, and he died March 29, 1997.

She was a member of the Moose Lodge in St. Ignace and St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church.

Mrs. Gosciniak is survived by two children, Phillip Rzeczycki of St. Ignace and Cindy Bartley of Cedarville; a sister, Pat Bezemek of Ubley; four grandchildren, and two great-grandsons.

Mass of Christian burial was Saturday, August 2, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church with Father Allen Mott officiating.

Burial was at Lakeside Cemetery beside her husband.

Dodson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
