We've had a few picture-perfect U.P. days with warm breezes, bright sunshine, and delightful temperatures. The folks in our tiny towns have been filling up their berry buckets with what has turned out to be a bumper blueberry crop. These are the things great pies and cobblers are made of, classic U.P. treats.

The weekend saw several weddings in the area. Congratulations to Jill oven and Gary Weaver. Jill is the daughter of Jim and the late Mary Frazier Oven. Congratulations to Michelle Spencer and Chris Schroeder. Michelle is the daughter of Jim and Cindy Fisher Spencer of Kinross.

Among the visitors at church Sunday was the former Virginia Johnson, daughter of Hank and Lil of Garnet, and sister to Vern Johnson of Engadine. Elnora Crockett of Willis is spending time at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Lester Livermore of Naubinway.

Enjoying a family birthday celebration in honor of Don Goudreau were a few of his children, along with his wife, Dana, Gary, DJ, Andrea, and Laura, and their families. The cake had a train theme in keeping with one of Don's favorite enjoyments, and it was enjoyed by all.

Getting away for a weeks worth of rest and relaxation (with a little hunting and fishing thrown in) were Dale Burgess, Pastor Tim Miller, and Bob Bosman, who were last seen headed for our northern border.

Heading to college are Tristina Browning at Wayne State University, Shauni Rutledge at Jackson Community College, and Jaime Maison at Northern Michigan University. Best of luck to all.

Birthday wishes, a few belated, go to Peggy Benoit August 12, Don Goudrea and Rodney Bigelow August 15, our grandson, Jesse Fosdick August 16, Dylan Formolo and Andrea Everhart August 17, Rick Kerridge August 19, Billy Belonga August 20, Leta Standring and Hana Belonga August 22, Desi Derusha and Drake DeWyse August 23.

Anniversary wishes to our neighbors, Ed and Karen Hins, who celebrated August 11, and to Penny and Daryl Browning, and Allan and Laurie Spencer August 19.
