Bark in the Park Draws 37 Entries at St. Ignace

(Photographs by Diane Blair) This year's Bark in the Park at St. Ignace Saturday, August 16, had a larger turnout than last year, with 37 dogs and their owners participating in the boardwalk stroll and contests. The event took place at Chief Wawatam park, near the old Chief dock, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The fundraiser is sponsored by Mackinac Animal Aid Association and benefits pets at the Mackinac County Animal Shelter.
Roxie, a three-year-old rescue dog, won the Overall Best in Show.
Contest winners are as follows:
Best Costume - "Daisy," owned by Summer and Hannah Sposito of St. Ignace.
Smallest Dog - "Ricco," owned by Sara Johnston of St. Ignace.
Largest Dog - "Louie," owned by Monica Bernie of Eagle.
Prettiest Eyes - "Bowzer," owned by Zack Tretchter of Remus.
Best Bark - "Duke," owned by April Nieman of Cheboygan.
Tail Wagger - "Kelly," owned by Janet Croft of Harrison Township.
