Automated Toll Gates Added at Sault's International Bridge
2008-08-21 / News
Automated toll gates and new digital-message signs have been installed for all toll lanes to help customers move through the International Bridge toll plaza safely and quickly. The bridge connects Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Customers approaching the bridge toll plaza will use the signs to see which lanes are only accepting toll cards, which are open to all traffic, and which are closed. It's expected the new signs, coupled with automation capability, will enhance customer convenience, improve traffic flow, and promote safety. They were put in use August 4.
There will be no toll attendant layoffs as a result of the new capabilities.
